Since the early days of Uzume Theatre, founded by Peter Goessner in Kitakyushu in 1996, I have provided supports and interactions, as well as assistance with the creation of works and workshops. I have been a long-time supporter of Uzume Theatre. In recent years, I have actively participated in peace marches led by Nipponzan Myohoji Temple (Lotus Sutra), as well as the construction of peace towers (Peace stupas) in Japan, Nepal, India, and other countries.
What currently concerns me most is the state of Ukraine’s cultural heritage following the Russian invasion. Among the seven World Heritage Sites (six cultural and one natural), I am concerned about the damage suffered by the “Wooden Churches of the Polish and Ukrainian Carpathians,” nine Eastern Orthodox churches dating from the 16th to the 19th centuries, scattered throughout the country. If necessary, I am prepared to go to Ukraine after the war to take part in creative reconstruction efforts for damaged facilities.
